Good to see you in NY. I will definitely check out. I'm of the opinion that WAY too many bags these days have all the stiffness, weight, and volume of rollers. I just want a single bag that I really like. I stopped by LL Bean in Freeport and there was at least one design IMO ruined by making it a roller bag.

Get Briggs & Riley. http://www.briggs-riley.com/
Absolutely the best stuff with the best guarantee. I dragged my computer bag behind my car (long story) and yet they still fixed it for free.

Go with 2 bags -- Its much more versatile and just as easy. I use a BB102 for the electronics and a U422S for clothes. They hook together and fit easily into the overhead bin. I can go a week on this.

Before you spend a lot of money on brand new merchandise, check out your thrift stores, scratch & dent stores, and garage sales.

I was lucky, I admit, but I recently picked up a matched set of luggage--including a rollie suitcase--at different garage sales.

+1 on sfbags.com quality. I've used Timbuk2 sleeves for a while to carry my laptop around town. They are a little more bulky/protective than you may want. This seems to be the current offering:
