I’m staggering towards the finish line that is the holidays, but I’ll make it. I always do. This year seemingly more than the last few, I’m at sea during a perfect storm of heavy travel, heavy workload, heavy holiday scheduling demands, and a variety of non-critical but draining technical challenges. But considering that the motto in my family has always been “what cannot be cured must be endured,” I’ll just keep on trucking. And try to have some fun along the way.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll all be a bit patient with me if my posts are occasionally, ok, frequently, less substantive than you’re used to. There are variety of topics that are demanding of commentary at the moment – such as the situation Novell finds itself in – but regrettably I haven’t found the time to give these the public airtime they deserve (though they are frequent topics of discussion w/ clients). The good news, as I emailed Andy Updegrove the other day, is that there are lots of folks picking up the slack in my absence. See, for example, Andy’s outstanding notes on either the accusation that Novell has forked OO.o, or today’s piece on the ECMA vote (which I’ve heard from IBM on, and expect to talk to Microsoft about later today). Don’t know what I’d do without the help of the folks I rely on. Analysis for the people, by the people. And so on.
Anyhow, I’m struggling as usual to catch on matters deserving of my attention after being out of the office the past two days in Boston, but hopefully will have more for you shortly.

glad its not just me. i swear to dog, i am god tired. its been an incredibly intense “back to school” period. the last six weeks or so have been truly exhausting. all travel and very few billable hours. thank god sales are going well… you’re still leaking awesome all over the place, so I wouldnt worry about disappointing your community too much. Bring on christmas and your january zero travel policy. oh yeah- except for mashup camp – but thats not work right.
