When you look at what both Soriano and Lee have gotten to play essentially the same position [presuming the Cubs don't play Alfonso in CF], Manny's deal really doesn't look that bad. That'll both help move him and also provide an impetus to keep him. As much as it never looked like it'd happen, the present market correction is bringing the market back to Manny after all these years. I think the end-game will be this: line up a deal for him.
