To all of the other Mashup Campers who booked ahead of time and filled the Hotel Avante, two Marriotts, a Hilton and a Westin – I curse you. I’m now staying at the two star Comfort Inn in Mountain View. It was that, or pay three hundred something a night for a place down in Palo Alto, which was not happening. The last time I stayed in a Comfort Inn was while moving out to Colorado, and the room somewhere west of Cleveland reeked of mildew – I mean reeked of it. I’m hoping this location will be at least marginally better.
But in all seriousness, I am very much looking forward to the second iteration of what was, walking away, my favorite conference of ’05. If any of you are going to be there, drop me a line. I’ll probably be leaving early that Thursday because I need to get back to Boston for a Friday morning engagement, but maybe not given my options – a red eye might, unfortunately, be in the cards.
