But I swear, it’s times like this when I feel like Odysseus, in that the fates or great spirit or whatever seem similarly unenamored of me, personally. Guess I should have sacrificed those rams.
On the way to DIA last night, I got caught up in swirling snow, promptly got off on the wrong exit, and generally made a mess of what’s a very straightforward drive. Once on the plane, I fell asleep on the ground only to wake up over an hour later to find us still on said ground. Oh well, I thought, I’m escaping to better weather, as from all accounts it’s been a very mild winter on the East Coast. So much for that.
As Sully, my grizzled Thrity rent-a-car shuttle driver informed me at around 6:30 AM this morning, Boston’s due for its first real nor’easter of the season. Prognosis calls for a foot or more of snow, north and west of the city. Just where I’m going. On the first weekend I’ve been out in months. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Anyhoo, all else is well in the land of the world’s greatest and most important sports team. I made it to/from my midday consultation without incident in the Jeep Liberty the kind folks at Thrifty were kind enough to give me as an alternative to the Dodge Stratus I was supposed to be driving, and the session itself was fun. Have been busy on a couple of other projects this afternoon, then will be driving up to Burlington tomorrow for the MIT Forum (why wasn’t I told this was in Burlington rather than Cambridge?). Following a brief appearance, I’ll depart for the great white north, hopefully ahead of the white-out conditions common to nor’easters.
For those waiting on it, I’m working on the Oracle/M&A Q&A but it’s slow going as I didn’t get much sleep on the plane and am at the point in the day where I’m no longer operating on all cylinders. Might have a separate quick post instead. Anyway, if you’ll be at the MIT Forum tomorrow, be sure to find me while I’m still there, and if not I hope to see some of you at OSBC next week.
