San Fran Says Hi

Partly Cloudy in San Fran

Like my colleague, I’ve arrived safe and sound here in San Fran for the Sun Analyst Conference and will be here for the next two nights. The first of four trips in Feb began relatively auspiciously, as the good folks from Frontier more than made up for the 15 minute delay by granting me an exit row seat. A few hundred emails and a couple of BG episodes later and I was in SFO.

The St Regis is apparently new enough that the cabbie hadn’t heard of it, but it’s really quite nice. More importantly, it’s a bit more understated – and thus more my speed – than the W, where my jeans/t-shirt/Sox hat casual attire is viewed as embarrassingly gauche.

Best of all, they’ve got a line-in on what passes for the clock radio, so I’m answering emails while listening to my iPod. While I’m on that subject, can someone explain to me why more alarm clocks and car radios don’t offer a line-in? Instead we have to pick from primitive (FM transmitters or cassette adapters) to expensive (iPod specific integration kits) – isn’t line-in a lot simpler and cheaper?

Anyway, I’ll keep you all posted on what news and notes I come across, and otherwise look forward to a couple of good days in SF. If you need to reach me for any reason, the cell is 617.320.9757 (and I brought the charger this time). Looks like I’m pretty booked up, but if you’re in/around the Moscone area I might be able to break away.
