As you may have gathered from the fact that last night’s post on the Google/Sun announcement was timestamped at just shy of 11 PM, things have been busy here at the RedMonk Home Offices. While the past few weeks have had me running all over the place, this one has me juggling multiple projects and a small multitude of briefings. Anyhow, I’ve got some more commentary coming regarding some of the recent announcements and related topics, but that’ll have to hold as we’re coming up on game time, and my schedule essentially revolves around the Sox at this point.
Yes, the same Sox who you may have noticed were pretty roundly thumped yesterday, so don’t start on me. While that experience was rather unpleasant, I promise it was worse last year when the Yankees put up 19 runs on us to go up 3-0 in the ALCS. And I think we all know how that turned out.
The only other news I have for you is that after having screwed up the audio on my laptop a while back, I managed to get it sorted out yesterday. What does that mean for all of you? I’m back on Skype. Given my increasing preference for working out of the office wherever I can get wifi, I’m going to try driving as much of my voice traffic in that direction as I can.
The shame of it is that I would be going the Project Gizmo route, but those folks haven’t seen fit to issue distributions for anything other than Linspire and Debian. Fine distros both, but not what I use. Google Talk’s no better. So Skype it is, at least for now. Anyhow, if any of you are also Skype users, and you have an occasional need to speak with me, my Skype ID is sogrady – shouldn’t be too hard to remember. My only request is the same as Miguel’s; please ping me only if we’ve a.) talked in person, b.) talked over IM, c.) have linked back and forth on blogs or d.) emailed. It’s not that I don’t like meeting readers, it’s that my time is regrettably limited these days. Such is the price of our business.
