unlike Stephen my ambitions are unlimited in scope. to quote Marc Fleury: "Buaaahahahahahahaah"

;-)

one of my roles is chief-in-Gartner's-face officer. I am just doing my job. and like Stephen says the pay for play walls are set to tumble. the margins are unsustainable and we're moving into the analysis as a service age...

well said regarding IDEs stephen

i cant believe you turned down 1600 beers for a baseball game. of course i can really, but it shows an amazing commitment doesnt it? talk about Creating Passionate Fans

Orbis: different ballgam, IMO. one can design to Red Hat / SuSE / Gentoo / Debian etc at the same time, although it's not as easy as it could be. not so for the IDE's.

that point also illustrates that i'm *not* against competing IDEs, but competing plugin architectures and approaches. that's the problem.

Ryan: kudos for passing on the credit.

If you don't think the world needs more than one IDE, then surely we don't need more than one Linux distro.
