On The Road Again…

Share via Twitter Share via Facebook Share via Linkedin Share via Reddit

Having just returned from a week on the road, I’m headed back out again tonight. The basic schedule, for those of you who might have a need to get a hold of me, is a late night flight to Chicago tonight, with a night at the O’Hare Hilton. Tomorrow morning, I’m off bright and early to Raleigh/Durham to give a talk on SOA and services based approaches, then I return to Chicago tomorrow evening, staying – yet again – at the O’Hare Hilton. Wednesday I’m giving a talk entitled “Bottom Up Marketing: Using Conversational Marketing to Speak to Developers.” If I can post the respective decks (they’re client works), I will – not that the decks themselves are anything special.

Meantime, if you’ve been wondering why my posts have been a bit abbreviated in length of late, it’s mainly the travel and another project or two we’re working on.

Couple of other news & notes:

  1. For those of you that have followed the Massachusetts file format debate and some of the posts here on the subject, I recommend that you give Stephe Walli’s latest a read. Stephe and I got the chance to meet for breakfast when I was in Boston two Friday’s ago, and caught up quickly about some of the coverage. While I feel badly that I haven’t been able to give the issue the attention it’s deserved in the past week or so, I’m happy that folks like Stephe are picking up the slack for me. Stay tuned to the situation, from what we hear there’s some serious lobbying going on, and the decision is far from certain.
  2. Speaking of meetups, I’d like to thank Josh Schachter and co. for taking the time to sit down and discuss some of the issues with del.icio.us while I was in NYC last week. I won’t discuss what we chatted about, but I can assure you that Josh, Max & the rest of the gang are doing anything but sitting on their hands – there’s lots of fascinating stuff ahead for one of my favorite web services. Smart guys with a lot of vision, even though I couldn’t convince them to solve my scheduling problems ๐Ÿ˜‰
  3. Back on the Massachusetts file format debate, it’s not all that often that I’m going to be pointing you to a Nicholas Carr (of HBS and “IT Doesn’t Matter” fame) link, as we don’t exactly see eye to eye on the value of technology, but he gets it in one.
  4. A couple of you have written in to ask what I thought of the recent BusinessWeek and Forbes pieces on Microsoft, and while I’ll hopefully have more on them later you can get an idea of where I’m leaning with some of the commentary from my del.icio.us feed on those and related articles.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Got lots of stuff in the queue to discuss, which I’ll get to as soon as I’m able. Oh, one last thing: I’m on United 258 to ORD tonight, so if you’re on it, I highly recommend calling your airline and rescheduling lest my travel luck get you too.

  1. Stephen,

Looking forward to your presentation on Wednesday. Feel free to post the presentation slides. Isn't that what conversation marketing is all about. ๐Ÿ™‚

btw, I do hope you know the meeting is at the Wyndham O'Hare not the Hilton?
