		<description>agreed Anonymous...NetBeans is certainly a big believer in community, and competition can be a good thing (although in the Eclipse vs NetBeans sense i don't believe that), but either way - it'll probably be the community that decides the winner.

		<description>not only do you believe it, Ian, but Eclipse was one of the pioneers (along with NetBeans) of this model in the application tools space. Eclipse is where it is - as you note - because of the community, and from what we can see the strength of that community will be a strong sustaining factor going forward.</description>

I couldn't agree more that communities are key to the success of a lot of projects, including Eclipse.    To paraphrase many people, 'Its the ecosystem, stupid'.   We certainly believe that at Eclipse.</description>
