Other Worthy Causes…

In addition to the Red Cross, if you’ve got a few dollars left over from some newly acquired Christmas funds, might I recommend two more causes worth donating to. These are near and dear to my heart not because of the Red Sox connections, but because people in my life have been affected by both ALS and cancer.

Curt’s Pitch for ALS: Funds research into ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The Jimmy Fund: Fights cancer in children and adults at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

If you can spare anything, I know they’d appreciate it. Thanks.

  1. My co-JA at Williams was diagnosed with ALS our senior year in college. She can no longer talk to write, but she has a new device to get online and do e-mail.
As a result, I am getting to chat with her for the first time in a bit. Between her and my grandmother who has MS (similar enough in terms of research money), I am always looking to donate to research on these.

    Thanks for the link.

  2. no problem at all. there are so many worthy causes out there, and everyone should of course give to the charities that are important to them, but these are simply the ones that are most important to me personally.
