del.icio.us bookmarks extension: please fix this, Josh

I am a big fan of Yahoo’s del.icio.us knowledge management service. I would happily pay for it, which is why I am more than happy to put up with some occasional flakiness. But the Firefox Extensions problem is becoming a real drag, particularly because the component has been updated three times by the del.icio.us team since I started using it, and the bug is still extant.

What is the bug in question? Basically if you use the del.icio.us extension, which “replaces” some existing toolbar functionality, you lose any control of your existing bookmarks toolbar. You can’t move or edit bookmark buttons on the Firefox toolbar. I don’t know about you but not being able to create a button for a new service you subscribe to is a problem for me.
Any sign of a fix on the horizon? Stephen can you ask Josh please.

  1. I’m not fussed about “losing” the original FF bookmarks toolbar (that’s why I switched, after all), but I WOULD like to be able to order the del.icio.us bookmarks to suit myself – not alphabetically, and not in arrival sequence, but so that those I use all the time are always visible. That MIGHT be better fulfilled by sequencing on frequency of use, but this requires lots of use to get a new one where you want it – I’d rather just put it where I think it should be in the first place.

  2. Here here! I second that emotion. I want my bookmarklets back.
