This is a good play by Burton. You can rest assured IBM will now pay big bucks for Bob’s insights on a consulting basis, which will account for his Burton salary. So the rest will be gravy.
It will be interesting to see whether Burton can encourage Bob into the kind of headline grabbing ultra-opiniated coverage [please don’t threaten me Burton] that the group is putting forward at the moment. I don’t think he is that kind of guy. But we shall see.
I certainly look forward to rich public debates with Kim Cameron.
Anyway Bob is whipsmart, and will add real strength and depth to Burton’s already considerable strength in identity and privacy.
