JavaOne 2006: The Press Room

I discovered The Press Room a few weeks ago at MMS 2006. As you might guess, it’s a room at conferences set aside for the press and analyst with computers, phones (I crap you not, there actually phones in there), ethernet, couches, food, and drink.

For the most part, I try to avoid spending too much time in the press room because I’d rather be out on the bean bags with all the attendees instead of the people writing about the attendees.

But, the great thing about the press room is the free food and drinks. I went to get one of the free lunches in the main eatin’ area, and the line was quite long. But up the in the press room was a stack of 3 different boxes lunches with no line at all. I snagged the last roast beef.

So, while there aren’t that many bags of cash, fast cars, and women, there are no-wait lunches…and coffee.
